Yes, we can have fun, lots of fun, with money, but it is only temporary.
True joy and happiness only come from one source: God.
God has all the riches in the world:
Haggai 2:8 says: The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’ says the LORD of hosts.
But He is a well that never runs dry:
John 4:13-14 – Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
He has all the wealth, but the wealth he has is not only money.
He has a wealth of and embodies:
Joy
Love
Peace
Giving
Health
Wisdom
Holiness
Restoration
Our purpose
Righteousness
Our inheritance
Keeping His Promises
When Moses and the Israelites journeyed for 40 years through the desert, the older generation passed away, because of their disobedience and complaints toward God.
They did not honor God for all He has done for them.
Even though Moses passed before he entered the promised land, his inheritance wasn’t a physical thing or a place, it was someone.
Moses’ inheritance was God, and God was Moses’ promised land.
How do we shift our mindset to think of God as our inheritance, our source and our Wealth?
The answer is simple: The Holy Spirit and the Word of God
He’s always been there and He will always be with us.
When we spend our time, and our attention and surrender our desires, He is faithful to transform us to become more like Jesus.
When we remove money as the object of our affection, He will fill the void, and streams of living water will flow on the inside of us.
He changes everything, he cleans us from the inside out, so he can pour new wine into our cups to overflow.
We can use the verses below as a prayer to remove the mindset the world has taught us about wealth:
2 Corinthians 10:4-6
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.
And replace it with the wealth of Wisdom and treasure God has written in His Word.
May our Wealth flow from God as our source in 2024.
