Consistency and Character in FLOW

In the past 4 weeks, we’ve talked about how to grow, attain and nurture Faith, Leadership and Wealth to God’s standard.

We’ve learned what the Biblical truths are about money and the importance of giving and trusting in God with your finances.

In the upcoming weeks, we delve deeper, reflecting on 2023 and God’s work throughout the year. Our focus this week is on Consistency and Character, as outlined in the Word of God:

1. Abiding in God: Endure and wait patiently (John 15:4-9).

2. Holding fast to God’s faithfulness: Without wavering (Hebrews 10:23).

3. Being steadfast: Immovable, always abounding in the Lord’s work (1 Corinthians 15:58).

4. The Fruit of the Spirit: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

5. Continuous prayer: “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

6. Do not grow weary: Persist in doing good (Galatians 6:9).

7. Work as for the Lord: With heart and dedication (Colossians 3:23-24).

8. Patience and Endurance through Love: Described in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.

When we reflect upon these words;

➡Serve
➡Hold Fast
➡Steadfast
➡Be Patient
➡Discipline
➡Self-Control
➡Do not give up
➡Without Ceasing
➡Endure all things
➡Do not grow weary

We see that God is interested in our character rather than a once-off act of obedience.

How do we apply this to Wealth and in monetary terms?

We take a look at a book Titled; How much is enough? Written by 3 separate Authors (Andrew Bradley, Arun Abrey & Andrew Ford)

In the book, they unpack one of the World’s most influential Investors, philanthropists, and Wealthiest men – Warren Buffet.

Taking an excerpt from the book, it is biblical the way Buffet handles his money:

“…Buffet’s investment philosophy and behaviour appear to be entirely consistent with the way he lives his life. He is humble, sensible and thrifty, well-grounded and disciplined. Unlike the Kemptons, he is clear about the nature of risk and return in investment markets and about his goals. He does not appear to be distracted by others’ expectations, excessive materialism, short cuts to wealth and the myriad other urgent but unimportant distractions. While there are countless books on Warren Buffet’s investment prowess few observe the real key to his success: that his behavior in life and behavior with money are entirely consistent.”

Buffet’s life exemplifies humility, sensibility, discipline, and consistency, reflecting a character consistent with his investment philosophy.

May we reflect on these truths for 2023 and 2024 and may it, through the Holy Spirit transform us to remain constant in uncertain times.
